Professional Experience: 1.One year research orientation course at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Training School, Bombay during 1980-1981 2. 30 years at Materials Science Division of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam as a scientist in the field of high pressures. 3. Developed energy dispersive x-ray diffraction and high resolution Guinier diffractometer system for High Pressure X-ray diffraction studies using diamond anvil cells. 4. Developed laser-heated diamond anvil cell technique for synthesizing and studying novel materials under high pressure and high temperature. 5. Indigenously developed Megabar Diamond Anvil Cells for high pressure research. 6. High pressure investigations on a variety of f- electron based Intermetallics and oxides, high temperature structural intermetallics, imaging phosphor materials like BaFX(X=Cl, Br, I) etc. 7. High pressure – high temperature investigations on transition metal carbides, IV-IV compounds etc Honours and Awards:1. First rank in M.Sc., (Physics) 2. University Gold Medal (1979) 3. Kalpakkam Science and Technology Award (1995) 4. Centre of Excellence Fellowship of the Japanese Science and Technology Agency during 1997-98
Current Interest &Responsibilities: 1. High pressure investigations on f - electron based systems. 2. Synthesizing and studying novel and superhard materials under extreme pressures and temperatures using laser heated diamond anvil cell. 3. Heading the High Pressure Physics Section.
