Professional Experience
Member of Materials Science Division, IGCAR since 1974, after graduating from the 17th batch of the BARC training school. Established active research programs in the area of positron annihilation spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy, and involved in the studies on defects and phase transitions in novel materials that include high temperature superconductors, fullerenes, strongly correlated systems and colossal magnetoresistive manganites.
A Post doctoral fellow at the University of Missouri- Kansas City, USA during Oct. 1988 to June, 1990, and Visiting professor at the University of Missouri- Kansas city, USA, during June - Dec 1997. Member of the editorial board of PRAMANA and a Honorary Faculty Member at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, 2003 -2005. A Professor at the Homi Bhabha National Institute. Over 100 Journal publications that are well cited.
Currently heads the Materials Science Group with a comprehensive research programme that includes, in addition to basic research on front line areas of materials science, use of ion beams to simulate neutron induced radiation damage to structural materials in a reactor, development and application of SQUID sensors, and studies on nanomaterials.
